Our History
Ladoke Akintola University of Technology (LAUTECH) is a public university located in Ogbomoso, Oyo State, Nigeria. The university was established in 1990 by the Oyo State Government with the primary aim of providing high-quality education in various fields of technology and applied sciences.
The university was originally conceived as a specialized institution to address the growing demand for skilled professionals in the technology and engineering sectors, as well as to contribute to the socio-economic development of the region and Nigeria at large. It was named after Chief Ladoke Akintola, the former Premier of Western Nigeria, in honor of his contributions to the development of education and governance in Nigeria.
LAUTECH was officially established through the passage of the enabling law by the Oyo State Government, which sought to create an institution that would focus primarily on producing graduates with practical skills in engineering, technology, and applied sciences. Over the years, the university has expanded its academic programs to include courses in business, health sciences, and social sciences, among others, but its core emphasis remains on technological education.
The university began operations with a few departments and has since grown into one of Nigeria's leading institutions in the area of technological education. LAUTECH is known for its rigorous academic programs, high standards of teaching, and a strong focus on research and innovation.
