Global President's Remark

2nd National Reunion & Convention of LAUTECH Alumni Association Canada
Saturday, July 19, 2025

Highly Distinguished members of the LAUTECH Alumni Association Canada (LAAC)

Board of Directors,

The LAAC Executive Council & The Provincial Coordinators

Organizers of today's event,
Esteemed colleagues and friends,

It is indeed a great honor and privilege to stand before you today at this 2nd National Reunion & Convention of our beloved LAUTECH Alumni Association Canada. I bring warm greetings from the Global Alumni Association and from all our members around the world.

This gathering is more than just a reunion; it is a celebration of shared history, enduring friendships, and the remarkable strides we have made as proud ambassadors of our alma mater.

It is also a moment to reflect on our collective journey, reconnect with old friends, and forge new partnerships that will strengthen our association and extend our impact beyond borders.

I must commend the leadership of the LAAC for their dedication, commitment, and vision in organizing and inviting me to join this important event. I also must commend everyone of you - LAAC members for your contributions towards donation of computers to LAUTECH 2 years ago. And for your financial award to the best graduating student of LAUTECH last year. Your efforts are a shining example of what it means to uphold the LAUTECH spirit wherever we find ourselves.

As we engage in meaningful conversations, let us remember that our greatest strength lies in unity, collaboration, and the willingness to give back to the institution that shaped us. I therefore seek deeper collaboration and support for the Global Alumni body. Together, we can continue to uplift LAUTECH, empower the next generation, and build a legacy that will endure for years to come.

My presence here tonight however is a pointer to the fact that our administration has not failed in its core responsibilities, with the assemblage of these gorgeous and beautiful faces, young and old members of our association that I am seeing tonight.

Although, our association is not without its challenges but with determination of our members all over the world and the unflinching support from every one of you, we have been able to navigate through the muddy water and has come out this stronger.

Now more than ever, it is time for us to come together and do all within our reach to further uplift the school that shaped us and reposition her amongst comity of alumni associations all over the world.

Pardon me, if I will bore you with a few out of many things we have achieved since the inception of my administration. I can boldly say that we have recorded numerous success stories as we have positively impacted on both the students and alumni members and in extension our institution. We have continued to make appreciable progress in area of human resource development for members of this great association as well as the society at large.

We have started embarking on aggressive membership drive, the efforts thus far have begun yielding positive results and we can see here tonight with Canada chapter fully flying higher. Back in Nigeria, those aggrieved chapters and members have been persuaded and reconciled.

More importantly, we have attracted several of members to support and contribute to the growth of our alma mater. Recently, the Olajide Abiodun Babatunde's family has commenced work to construct and equip a six-blocks state-of-the-art ultramodern guest house situated near our civic centre in Ogbomosho. The Babatunde's family through their foundation (Olajide Abiodun Babatunde Foundation OAB-F) has been impacting lives positively and tremendously addressing societal needs through various grants and aids thereby contributing to the growth of the society.

I will be unfair if I fail to acknowledge some of our members in this chapter whom have been pillar of support to our administration through their involvement and contributions. The technical investments made by Mr. Dare Hamzat, supported by Pastor Segun Oladele and their co-tech team to enable us set up a website and publish same for general use can never be over-emphasized. Permit me to also appreciate LAAC Calgary elders for their kind host and warm reception during my visit 2 years ago. Recently, one of us from this chapter, Miss Toyin Ayodeji-Ojo, gave immense financial support cum scholarship to a few of our indigent students back in Nigeria.

These individuals among several others have made meaningful contributions to our alma mater, demonstrated leadership, and set a high bar for future generations. I am pleased to state that their contributions inspire us greatly and remind us of the potential that lies within each of us to make a difference. The global website will soon be launched and I enjoin you all to partake in using the website to collaborate and support the Global Alumni for the benefits of our alma mater.

To the incoming executives, I look forward to deepening our collaboration to collectively achieve greater success.

Therefore, as we enjoy the merriment this evening, let us also take a moment to reflect on the friendships we have built, the experiences we have shared, the lessons we have garnered and the paths we will forge.

Let us take a moment to reflect on our pasts and look ahead to the future with excitement, knowing that the legacy of our alma mater will continue to inspire generations to come.

Thank you, and I look forward to fruitful deliberations and a memorable convention.
